Life Insurance – A one off, lump sum, that pays out the insured amount in the event of the insured death. This is often used to pay off a mortgage or can be also used as a fund to the bereaved loved ones.
Critical illness – A one off, lump sum, that pays out the sum assured on diagnosis of a critical illness, generally within ten days of diagnosis to the insured client.
Income protection – This is a monthly income replacement not a lump sum payout.
This covers the insured client and replaces a proportion of their salary in the event they or sick or cannot work. A policy can be taken out until retirement or for short term cover, generally two years.
